Lamu Island, Heavenly Coastline. This exquisite Island, en miles by five inhabits a peaceful Swahili culture as old as 1000 years, and has attracted artists and minimal mainstream tourism. Reached by a small plane from Nairobi or Mombasa, this is a perfect island retreat. There are no cars: transport is by traditional dowboat or mules on sand roads. The Yoga retreat will be held in Banana House and Fatuma’s Tower, an 18 Century ruin restored into a unique yoga space using natural materials of coral, lime and sand by Gillies Turle, antiques dealer & Yoga lover who has lived in Kenya for over 35 years. Carved wooden furniture is a trademark of the islanders, which is evident in the retreat house . The yoga hall with its slanted windows is conducive to meditation, encouraging a connection with nature and simplicity. Hear the mosque call whilst doing yoga practise. A short walk leads you through the village or over the sand dune to endless white sand beach which can be hiked to experience an expanse of sea and sky. Peponi,

dowboats sail. Activities swimming, water skiing, walking, fishing, sailing by dowboat down the African coast to an oasis built entirely from nature: bamboo luxury, where you may swim with dolphins.Boat to Manda Island (20 minute swim if tide is right) for evening yoga and B.B Q. Hike to 14 century ruins around uninhabited Manda Island.Walk the beach in the cooler part of day, alongside scurrying crabs along the shoreline. Food nourishing seasonal vegetarian food is prepared with fish option. In the retreat house you will be cared for by warm Swahili staff. What you can do with a day, Yoga 8.30-10 am dynamic, cleansing, 11.30 Brunch: Buffet Lunch available at request, 6.30 pm sunset yoga: Breathing, meditation, partnerwork., 8 pm Supper: fish/catch of the day, vegetables.
